In Sarawak Malaysia, summer is whole year around and although Sarawak is a long way from our interns’ home in Germany; the warm sunshine and a tropical fruits galore ruled by the king of fruits ‘the durian’ gives that typical Asian whiff in the air for our interns as they started their first week of work in their respective sponsor companies.
In a perfect balance of timing as we welcome our international interns from Germany, a country renowned for its dual training system, the month of September is the month we honor technical and vocational education in Sarawak as the World Skills Malaysia Sarawak 2019 competition, National Dual Training System State Level Convocation ceremony as well as Sarawak Skills Carnival are held simultaneously from 10 September to 12 September 2019 in Kuching.
Frieda Thevarajah from Berlin, Aaron Witt from Nuremburg, Svenja Beckers from Bavaria and Sarah Jesch from Baden-Württemberg are placed for a cultural and work experience internship in host companies Ethos Academy of Skills Development, Riverside Majestic Hotel & Grand Margherita Hotel Kuching. The interns are also given the opportunity to meet Directors from Department of Skills Malaysia, Human Resources Development Fund and other government agencies.
